1984年10月15日，美籍華裔作家劉宜良（Henry Liu）筆名江南，因撰寫《蔣經國傳》，被中華民國國防部情報局派黑道赴美暗殺。事發之後，台美關係一度跌到谷底，因為國外情報機構居然膽敢公然派殺手到美國本土刺殺美國公民。 　 當時美國國會就提出以下等共同決議案： 　 ➡️ (99 - S.Con.Res.10) A concurrent resolution expressing the sense of the Congress that the Taiwan authorities should cooperate fully in the case of Henry Liu by delivering to the United States for trial those citizens of Taiwan charged by authorities in the United States in connection with the murder of Henry Liu.《表達國會就台灣當局在劉宜良案應完全配合將被美國當局控訴牽涉劉宜良謀殺案之台灣公民交到美國接受審判之立場之共同決議案》 　 ➡️ (99 - H.Con.Res.49) A concurrent resolution expressing the sense of Congress that the Taiwan authorities should cooperate fully in the case of Henry Liu by delivering to the United States for trial those citizens of Taiwan charged by authorities in the United States in connection with the murder of Henry Liu.《表達國會就台灣當局在劉宜良案應完全配合將被美國當局控訴牽涉劉宜良謀殺案之台灣公民交到美國接受審判之立場之共同決議案》 　 ➡️ (99 - H.Con.Res.110) A concurrent resolution expressing the sense of the Congress that the authorities on Taiwan should continue to cooperate fully in the case of Henry Liu and that an extradition agreement should be concluded between the American Institute in Taiwan and the Coordination Council for North American Affairs. 《表達國會就台灣當局應持續在劉宜良案（註：即江南案）上全力配合以及美國在台協會與北美事務協調委員會間應締結引渡協定問題立場之共同決議案》 　 可能是沒想到案件居然會被美國FBI偵破，以及事後美國向台灣政府施壓要求交出元兇，一開始否認政府人員涉案的蔣經國，後來下令逮捕軍事情報局長汪希苓等人，改口說整件事是汪的個人行為和政府無關。與殺手陳啟禮同為竹聯幫份子的張安樂事後公布錄音帶，指責蔣孝武是幕後主使者。儘管沒有直接證據、且後來承認這是杜撰的，但也間接導致蔣孝武無法接班成為領導者。而劉宜良遺孀崔蓉芝則是在控告中華民國政府後，獲得145萬美元的和解金。 　 其實早年台灣人為了對付國民黨專制政府，除了島內的抗爭之外，也常常透過台美人，借助美國國會的力量對中華民國政府施壓。除了江南案之外，美國國會也聲援了高雄事件（美麗島事件）、陳文成命案、李亞頻事件等。 　 　 ▍延伸閱讀 　 美國國會與台灣解嚴： https://www.facebook.com/ustaiwanwatch/posts/917520008431971 　 美國國會陳文成事件聽證會： https://www.facebook.com/ustaiwanwatch/posts/906469159537056
